These Are The Moments
It has been too long since my last post. Life seems to rush by too quickly these days between work, family outings, birthday parties, events, errands, trips, raising two munchkins, board meetings, swim lessons and more. A lot has happened in the past several months and it has been so amazing to watch both our children grow up and posess that "child wonder," soaking up every ounce of knowledge they encounter.
Here are a few updates on the Bruss Family.....
Jaxon finished his first full year at Christ Lutheran Schools' Preschool program in the Kangaroo room where he made tons of new friends, made lots of really cool crafts, attended fun field trips, played outside (rain or shine - which I love by the way) and grew as a young person. His teacher's were Ms. Sena and Ms. Nancy whom he grew very close too. I know Ms. Sena and he had a very special bond. We saw so many changes in Jaxon this year. He has grown up so much and is definitely a "big boy." He always has something to say and he knows exactly what he likes and doesn't like. He is not afraid to be vocal and honest with you about his thoughts, but he is also one of the most deeply caring little kiddos with this smart and comedic wit about him which we just love. We celebrated Jaxon's 4th birthday on August 1st - a Monster's Inc theme - and he is so proud to have moved up to the Penguin room now at preschool. He was one of the last one of his friends to turn four it seemed, so he was looking forward to spending more time with Beckett, Pierce, Elliott, Emerson, Carter, Malayka, Izzy and others. At preschool, they tell us he is a great "leader" and is always looking out for other kids and has a memory of steal. One thing I am always so mind-blown by with Jaxon is when we read together. I'll read him a story once and he'll be able to recite it to me, completely through memory, the next time we read. I'm talking paragraphs. It's unreal and very fun to watch it in action. Jaxon, we are so proud of you and love you so much!
Norah is now one years old. Where did the year go? I often feel I did not get enough sleeping baby cuddles with her, but now we are blessed with a walker. Norah is everywhere now that she has found her two feet. Right now, we are working on going up and down stairs. She is a dare devil and we like to call her Miss Independant. This little gal has a mind of her own, some major 'tude' and a smile that just melts your heart. I can only imagine what she will be like at 16! Let's not go there quite yet... She loves her big brother and is always in his business, which he just LOVES (note the sarcasm - he often tries to make up excuses to Kyle and I about why he needs to play in his room with the door closed, which to us means he is annoyed by Norah and doesn't want her near his trains - haha). She is still fairly bald and does not like anything in her hair - so all of those cute hair bows and ties - nada. Some funnies about Norah: She is very much a daddy's girl. Often she will have me feed her, throw the bottle aside when she's done and trot over to daddy to fall asleep on. It's quite hilarious and oh-so adorable. And while she doesn't have a lot of words, she believes she can speak full sentences. Often, she will babble baby talk to us with multiple facial expressions as if she had just told us an entire story about her day. When we ask her questions, she'll answer yes or no with a nod or a shake of the head. We love her so much. We can tell she'll be a little pistol one day, but we can also tell she will be a strong, intelligent woman with a caring heart - and a smile that will melt it away.
Kyle and I have been busy having fun with the kids this summer from weekend trips to the lakehouse in Glen Elder, KS and Huntley, NE to swim lessons every Wednesday night, board meetings for both of us two nights a week, skating, weddings, concerts (we went to Michael Jackson Cirque du Soleil, Sarah McLachlan, Katy Perry) work, #whole30 and getting our house ready to move. Yep, we will most likely be moving this year - more details on that news in another post. But, we are very excited about our plan for that. I also became the third Wine Ambassador in Nebraska for Boisset Wine Living out of Napa Valley, CA. So, if you are interested in joining our amazing wine club, hosting a wine tasting or becoming an Ambassador yourself, please let me know. I have enjoyed this opportunity so much. Kyle and I love wine, so it fits perfectly into our life. www.boissetwineliving.com/bethbruss
I promise my next post won't be as lengthy, but for me, this blog is about the future - an opportunity to share these special little moments with my kids when they are grown, whether it was about who they were as kids, funny stories we don't want to forget or something they said that was simply priceless. I guess I need to post less, more often. If there is anything I've learned this month with everything we've had going on is this: these are the moments. Slow down and be 100% present in each of them. Set the phone aside. Look up at your kids, engage, play, explore, rid the bad stress in your life (it's just not worth it) and never stop searching for what makes you better and happier. Because it's these precious moments that are what life's all about.
Thanks for reading!
