Thankful in Marco Island, Florida

Our family traveled to Marco Island, Florida for Thanksgiving this year. My parents had been a couple of times before and fell in love with the area so they wanted to bring all of us back - my brother and sister, our spouses and ALL of the kids.  So, 17 of us!

We stayed in a lanai suite for 7 days right on top of the sand. No joke, this sand was the softest and whitest sand I've seen. And the beach stretched wide and long with so many unique sea shells to discover each morning. It was wonderful to spend time with family, be in a warmer location in November and focus on connecting with each other versus on our devices. (Although I did take a lot of pictures on my phone.)

This trip was Jaxon and Norah's first time flying and first time seeing the ocean. They both did pretty good on the plane actually. Jaxon was enamored with the entire experience and has decided that he has flown four times now, even though it was one trip. "Mom, we flew on two planes there and two planes back, so I've flown 4 times!" Apparently he is trying to rack up his frequent flyer miles already. Norah slept on two of the legs which was awesome, while the other two legs she was her usual spunky self. =/ Jaxon also officially learned to swim on this trip, which I have to say was pretty cool.

A lot of great memories from boating the everglades and bonfires on the sand bar, freeing a baby octopus which we found washed up on the beach the day after we arrived, kayaking, sushi, beach bumming it, strangely fun games my nieces invented (eh-hem, brown paper bag game) and more. And if you're ever in Marco Island/Naples area, go to Doreen's cafe for breakfast and get the strawberry whipped cream french toast...AMAZING! I wonder if they deliver to Nebraska?

A BIG thank you to my mom and dad who helped make this trip happen! I'll post more pictures later. If you're friends with me on Facebook, you can find them all there as well.
