One Month Old!
Jaxon turned one month old this week, and Kyle and I took him to Portrait Innovations for his one month old pictures - yes, we are "those" parents. We thought it would be fun to take a picture of him every month for the first year and put it in a frame to see how much he's changed in his first year. First month, done. See pictures below. I can't believe he's already almost 5 weeks old - so crazy! They truly do grow up before your eyes. Jaxon finally has some meat on his bones and we both feel like he's become a little more "durable" in the last week, which has been nice for multi-tasking. He also holds up his head great, which he's been doing since day-one it seems - the kid has a steel neck or something. He is taking great naps in his crib throughout the day and is sleeping better at night now too (we transitioned him from the bassinet and he's finally getting used to his crib).
Story time. I took him to Target yesterday and for the first time...he cried in the store!! Aaack! I didn't know what to do. I hadn't planned on this at all. First-time jitters I guess. With no pacifier or noise makers in site (seriously, who packed this diaper bag?), I stuck a bottle in his mouth for 20 seconds and that seemed to do the trick. Phew! Problem overted. But only for a minute. He starts whaling again! Instantly, I had a flashback of my parents leaving a store when I acted up. Aha! Brilliant. I'll do that! But, of course as soon as I decide to grab what I had in my arms and rush out the door (NOTE: I would've paid for them first), for fear of everyone around me, emerging from the aisles, pointing their fingers in my direction and chanting in unison with a zombie-eyed look in their eyes, "Horrible parent!" or "We can't believe you would let your baby cry in a Target store for 20 seconds!" he calms right down and becomes a little angel. I thought to myself, make up your mind child!Anyway, it all worked out, and as my mom tells me, "You are probably the only one that notices, or is bothered by, your baby crying in a store." I'm guessing there's a lot of truth to that.
