Jaxon's "Big Boy" Bedroom & New Nursery!

With the baby girl on the way, due June 20th, we knew we had some adjustments to make in our home to make room for a special space for her. To top it off, my need for "nesting" kicked into high gear so we got everything done pretty quickly. :)

The end result required us to move the office downstairs, which in turn required us to transform the basement guest bedroom (a.k.a. storage and junk room) into the office, thus moving everything that was once in the basement bedroom either out to the garage or off to the Goodwill! It was a great opportunity to purge, purge, purge.

After we had everything in the office and basement bedroom in it's place, we repainted both the office and Jaxon's bedroom. Jaxon was getting a "big boy" bedroom. His room changed from a spa green color to a beautiful light blue and we added a fun striping effect on the walls, alternating flat and gloss paint with the same color. Richard, Jaxon's daycare provider's husband, is a painter by trade, and so he offered to come over one evening and paint Jaxon's room. It was perfection! My sister-in-law, Carie, donated a toddler bed to us from her aunt that had never been used. We then bought Jaxon a new dresser from the Mart to match his toddler bed, since we moved all of the nursery furniture into the new baby girl's room next to us. The chair in his room is an old rocking chair from Grandma Hilda Bruss.

The office had been denim and yellow, so we changed it to lavender purple (bottom of wall) and gray (top) to match the bedding we had purchased. The bedding came from Glenna Jean (same maker as Jaxon's crib bedding). It is called "Lulu Sweet Potato." It was fun adding the finishing touches to both rooms - from wall decals to paintings and so on.

Jaxon is so proud of his room and talks about it all day long at daycare. When we pray with him at night, it's quite the experience. First, we sing a song, then we pray...and then Jaxon kicks us off his bed and says, "Get off my bed!" He's very particular about who is touching his bed I guess.

Here are some pictures of both rooms. Finally, complete!
