Home Sweet Home!!

We were so excited this afternoon when we learned Jaxon would be getting the thumbs up to leave the hospital today and go home! His jaundice had gone back down, his sleep apneas had subsided, blood and oxygen stats were perfect and he was gaining weight again - 5 lbs 15.8 oz (he was born at 6 lbs 3 oz, but dropped to 5 lbs 12 oz and is climbing his way back up day by day).

Kyle and I were excited to get back home as well and be together as a family in our actual home, so this was good news! We also felt very confident about going home with a new baby. I can imagine how scary some parents may feel going home with a brand new baby, especially their first one, with only a couple days in the hospital. We were blessed to have the opportunity of 'time" to ask the questions we needed to ask and learn how to take care of Jaxon as new parents.

So, we packed up our belongs, made the rounds to say goodbye to each of the staff personnel to thank them for being part of Jaxon's recovery and taking care of them and us for the past 7 days. We knew all of them so well, they were like family to Kyle and I. 'One of my favorite parts of today was unplugging all of the cords attached to Jaxon - two on his chest and on each foot - these monitored his heart rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure and who knows what else.I was getting so used to changing his diaper and clothes with these cords in the way, and Jaxon was even getting attached to them as he would cling to them like a security blanket or cuddle with them at night - it was cute - but it was so nice to have them off and out of the way once and for all.

We put Jaxon in the car seat so the nurse could check him and be sure we did it correctly, wrote a thank you messages on our room's wipe board to the nurses and doctors from the three of us, took some family pictures and headed out. i sat in the back seat with Jaxon all the way home and I think Kyle only drove 20 miles per hour, but we're home and everyone is doing very well!

Please stop by anytime! We would love to see you, and so you can meet Jaxon! We only ask that you call ahead of time - the only times that can be somewhat difficult to visit with other people is when Jaxon is feeding, which is usually every 3 hours around 9am, noon, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, and so on.

More pictures are posted below from today's events.
